Emily Blythe is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Genetics, Cell Biology, and Development at the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities, within the College of Biological Sciences. Her research focuses on molecular mechanisms of signal transduction, particularly how subcellular organization encodes biochemical coordination in G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs).
- PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics, Caltech (2019)
- M.Phil in Biochemistry, University of Cambridge
- B.A. in Biological Chemistry, Grinnell College
Research interests center on GPCR signaling, endosomal dynamics, and spatiotemporal regulation of biochemical pathways. She employs structural biology and biochemical approaches to dissect receptor trafficking and cAMP signaling.
Her recent publications highlight work on endosomal GPCR signaling, conformational biosensors, and ligand-receptor interactions, spanning disciplines like Cell Biology, Neuroscience, and Structural Biology. Key subfields include β-arrestin regulation, myosin-mediated trafficking, and compartmentalization of cAMP dynamics.
Lab members include Chantel Mastos, PhD (postdoc) and Eamon Cole (Researcher 1), who contribute to projects on synthetic optogenetic systems and GPCR signaling.
