Emily Block is Associate Professor and George Cormie Chair in Management at Alberta School of Business, University of Alberta. Research explores how values pluralism impacts organizational legitimacy and change, social evaluations, and addressing grand challenges through organizational theory.
Education:
- Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
- B.B.A. in Management from University of Notre Dame
Holds visiting professorship at Strathmore University (Nairobi) and serves on Academy of Management Journal editorial board. Teaches management, negotiations, and frontline business strategies using experiential learning approaches.
Research examines:
- Cross-sector partnerships in challenging environments
- Social venture legitimacy building
- Hybrid organization management
- Business solutions in post-conflict regions
