- PhD candidate in Renaissance material culture and identity creation
Her thesis, Dress & Accessories of Catherine de’ Medici (1519-1589), investigates the strategic use of clothing and adornment as tools of power and social influence in the French royal court. Emily integrates her practical experience in Fashion Design with historical analysis, including palaeography and portraiture, to decode textile narratives.
As a research student, Emily contributes to broader studies of early modern clothing, royal courts, and cultural symbolism. Her work aligns with interdisciplinary methodologies bridging art history, material culture, and gender studies.
