Emil Knut Stenersen Espe is an Associate Professor at the University of Oslo affiliated with the Institute for Experimental Medical Research. His research focuses on developing cardiac MRI acquisition strategies and post-processing tools, with particular emphasis on diastolic function, ventricular dysfunction, and MR didactics. He holds a Master of Physics (2009) and PhD in Medical Imaging (2014) from the University of Oslo.
Research interests center on:
- Advanced cardiac imaging techniques development
- Biomechanical analysis of heart function
- Preclinical models of cardiac pathophysiology
- Quantitative image processing algorithms
Publication analysis shows consistent focus on cardiac MRI applications, ventricular function assessment, and experimental cardiology across human and rodent models. Awards include membership in the K.G. Jebsen Academy for Young Medical Researchers (2021-2024).
Teaching includes FYS4740 – MR Theory and Medical Diagnostics. Current work involves developing novel elastography techniques and investigating neurohormonal modulators in heart failure.
