Siri Lagethon Heck is an Associate Professor affiliated with the Division of Medicine and Laboratory Sciences at Akershus University Hospital. She is part of the Department of Internal Medicine and Laboratory Sciences and contributes to research groups including the Clinical Radiology Cardiovascular Research Group and the K.G. Jebsen Center for Cardiac Biomarkers. Her work focuses on cardiovascular disease, MRI applications in cardiology, and cardio-oncology, particularly in the context of cancer therapy-induced cardiotoxicity. She has led and contributed to pivotal clinical trials like the PRADA trial, investigating cardioprotective strategies during anthracycline treatments. Recent research explores biomarkers such as cardiac troponin T and GDF-15 in predicting myocardial fibrosis and post-COVID-19 cardiac abnormalities.
Her research interests span biomarker development for early detection of cardiac dysfunction, imaging techniques for myocardial injury assessment, and translational studies in cardio-oncology. Notable contributions include the design and implementation of randomized controlled trials evaluating metoprolol and candesartan efficacy in preventing chemotherapy-related heart damage. She also examines long-term cardiac outcomes post-COVID-19, leveraging MRI and troponin data.
Collaborations within the K.G. Jebsen Center emphasize cardiac biomarker research, while her clinical work integrates radiology and cardiology to improve diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. Her publications reflect a multidisciplinary approach, combining clinical trials, epidemiological studies, and advanced imaging analyses.
