معرفی
Dr. Kenneth Mangion is an Honorary Research Fellow and Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow’s School of Cardiovascular & Metabolic Health. He holds clinical affiliations with the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, specializing in cardiology and multi-modality imaging. Mangion’s medical training includes an MD from the University of Malta and MRCP certification (2011), followed by Cardiology specialization in Scotland. His research focuses on post-myocardial infarction (MI) outcomes, heart failure mechanisms, and cardio-renal interactions, using advanced imaging techniques like cardiac MRI and computational modelling for personalized risk stratification. Collaborations with groups like SoftMech emphasize translating imaging data into clinical tools.
Key projects include the EMPRESS-MI and SUGAR-DM-HF trials investigating empagliflozin’s role in preventing adverse cardiac remodelling. He has also contributed to the SCOT-HEART trial, assessing CT angiography’s long-term benefits. His work addresses disparities in cardiac care for women and socioeconomic groups, alongside cardio-oncology issues such as chemotherapy toxicity.
His scientific awards include a Bellahouston Medal nomination for his 2018 PhD on myocardial strain post-MI. He has led or co-led multiple trials, including the CABG-ACS trial and the ViKTORIES vitamin K supplementation study. Mangion is part of interdisciplinary teams studying CKD-related cardiac changes and post-COVID-19 multisystem effects, leveraging cardiac MRI and biomathematical approaches to advance clinical understanding.
