Emanuel Moench

Emanuel Moench is a Visiting Professor at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management since December 2021. He also serves as Co-Director of the Centre for Central Banking and Associate Editor at the International Journal of Central Banking. Prior to this, he was Head of Research at Deutsche Bundesbank and Professor of Economics at Goethe University Frankfurt, following a role as Research Officer at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

• Education: Ph.D. and M.A. in Economics from Humboldt University Berlin; M.A. in Statistics from ENSAE.

Research interests span macroeconomics and finance, focusing on monetary policy, financial markets, government bond yields, expectation formation, and the economic impacts of natural disasters and the green transition. His work intersects with adaptation strategies, resilience, and central banking.

Scientific awards include the Journal of Finance’s Amundi Smith Breeden First Prize (2015) and the European Economic Association’s Young Economist Award (2008).
