Falko Fecht

Prof. Dr. Falko Fecht serves as Professor of Finance at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, holding the DZ BANK Foundation Chair for Financial Economics since May 2012, and concurrently as Research Professor at Deutsche Bundesbank since January 2010. Previously, he held the Foundation Chair for Economics of Financial Institutions at EBS Business School in Wiesbaden.

His academic foundation includes a degree in Economics from Goethe University Frankfurt, where he completed his 2005 PhD dissertation titled "The Liquidity Transformation of the Banking Sector in Different Financial Systems and its Macroeconomic Implications." Prior to his professorship, he worked as an economist in the Deutsche Bundesbank's Central Department "Economics" and Research Center, with research stints at Federal Reserve Banks (New York, Cleveland, Kansas City), Dutch National Bank, and European Central Bank.

Professor Fecht's research centers on financial intermediation theory and financial systems/crises analysis, with specialized focus on bank regulation/rescue design, monetary policy instruments, interbank markets, deposit insurance, and payment systems. His work integrates theoretical frameworks with empirical analysis to address banking stability challenges, particularly examining liquidity dynamics across institutional contexts.
