Ellen Greene is the Joseph Paxton Presidential Professor of Classics at the University of Oklahoma's Department of Classics and Letters. She holds a Ph.D. from UC Berkeley (1992) and specializes in Greek and Roman lyric poetry with particular focus on gender and sexuality in antiquity.
Her research output includes major works such as Reading Sappho: Contemporary Approaches (1997), Re-Reading Sappho (1997), and The New Sappho on Old Age (2009). Currently co-editing Oxford Readings in Propertius and preparing a Blackwell monograph on Sappho.
