Ellen Duncan

Ellen Duncan, Ed.D., is a faculty member and the Director of Advising in the College of Education at the University of Missouri–St. Louis. With a career spanning K–12 education and higher education, she has served as a teacher, school administrator, mentor, and adjunct faculty, bringing extensive practical experience to her role in teacher education and academic advising.

Her educational background includes:

• Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, St. Louis University
• Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Curriculum and Instruction, University of Missouri–St. Louis
• Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Secondary Education (Honors Scholar), University of Missouri

Dr. Duncan's research and professional interests center on teacher preparation, instructional development, and educational leadership. She is deeply involved in programs supporting undergraduate students in education, including the Teach in 12 and TAC Alternative Certification pathways, reflecting her commitment to accessible and effective teacher training.

Her advising portfolio includes all emphasis areas in Bachelor of Education Studies (BES), the Undergraduate Minor in Education, and alternative certification candidates (last names M–Z). She is actively engaged in mentoring future educators and shaping teacher development programs at UMSL.

Dr. Duncan has contributed to academic advising and teacher education through her administrative leadership and direct student support. She currently leads the advising office, playing a key role in student success and program coordination within the College of Education.
