Ella Gray is a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Department of Forest Engineering, Resources & Management at the College of Forestry. Her research focuses on forest ecology, silviculture, and disturbance ecology with an emphasis on understanding the impacts of eastern spruce dwarf mistletoe on forest ecosystems. She has conducted extensive studies in Minnesota's lowland black spruce forests, exploring topics such as infestation dynamics, landscape modeling, and structural characteristics of affected trees.
Her work integrates ecological modeling and field observations to address challenges in predicting infestation patterns and assessing forest health. Key themes include multi-scale analysis of dwarf mistletoe effects, water table dynamics in experimental forests, and habitat suitability under climate change.
Ella has contributed to interdisciplinary projects, including studies on Minnesota’s Marcell Experimental Forest and New York’s maple-beech-birch ecosystems. Her research bridges applied forestry practices and theoretical ecological frameworks.
