Stjepan Mikac is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Forestry and Wood Technology, University of Zagreb. He specializes in Silviculture and Rainforest Ecosystems. His research focuses on climate impacts on tree growth, forest ecology, and biodiversity conservation in temperate and mountainous regions. He teaches courses including Floodplain Forests, Silviculture, and European Forestry.
- Employment: Senior Assistant/Junior Researcher (2004–201X), Associate Professor (current)
- Department: Department of Forestry
Research interests span climate-growth relationships in tree species, primary forest dynamics, and forest restoration strategies. Notable work includes studies on European beech, silver fir, and the effects of climate change on forest ecosystems.
Publications analyze tree physiology, disturbance regimes, and ecological niche shifts under climate variability. His work integrates dendrochronology, soil science, and remote sensing for ecosystem analysis.
