Elizabeth McGhee Hassrick is an Assistant Professor at Drexel University's A.J. Drexel Autism Institute and Department of Sociology. Her research investigates social networks, educational equity, and community-based interventions for autistic individuals across home, school, and clinical settings.
She holds a PhD and MA in Sociology from the University of Chicago and an MA in Education from the University of New Mexico. With 10 years of prior teaching experience, her work has been funded by NSF, NIH, and Spencer Foundation.
Her research examines:
- Social network interventions improving outcomes for ASD communities
- Collaborative infrastructures across educational and healthcare systems
- Inequities in service access for marginalized populations
- Digital/sensory tools for tracking support networks
Recent publications (2022-2024) focus on autism transition support, immigrant health interventions, and social network efficacy. Trends include mixed-methods approaches, community-partnered research, and cross-system analyses of support structures.
