Elizabeth M McGee is a Professor in the Department of Biological Sciences & Science Education at San Jose State University, with over 23 years of experience. She holds a PhD from Stony Brook University (1997), an MA in Biological Anthropology (1993), an MA in Paleontology from UC Berkeley (1989), and a BA in Anthropology from UC Berkeley (1983). She directs an annual study program in France and specializes in international education and biodiversity conservation.
Her interdisciplinary research integrates ecology, evolutionary biology, lemur behavior in Madagascar, paleontology, and anthropology. She develops outreach programs for K-12 to graduate levels, focusing on ecological stewardship and science communication.
McGee's publications show consistent themes in primatology, biogeochemistry, and paleontology. Her fieldwork in Madagascar examines lemur-parasite dynamics and forest disturbance impacts, while paleontological work explores mammalian extinctions and fossil taphonomy.
- Study in France Program: Leads interdisciplinary field studies on food systems and prehistoric sites in Dordogne.
