Christopher Noto is a Professor and Chair of Biological Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside. He holds a PhD in Ecology and Evolution from Stony Brook University (2009) and a BS from the University of Chicago, where he worked with paleontologist Paul Sereno on fossil preparation. His research focuses on vertebrate paleontology, particularly taphonomy, paleoecology, and functional morphology of extinct vertebrates. He leads the Arlington Archosaur Site project and is a Research Affiliate at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science in Dallas, Texas.
Education: BS, University of Chicago; PhD, Stony Brook University (2009). Professional roles include visiting professorships at Grand Valley State University and active leadership in paleontological research. His work integrates field studies with laboratory analyses, emphasizing Cretaceous ecosystems and fossil preservation mechanisms.
Research Interests: Paleontology of Cretaceous ecosystems, dinosaur paleoecology, crocodyliform evolution, and microvertebrate taphonomy. He has published extensively on topics such as the Arlington Archosaur Site’s biodiversity, Cenomanian paleoenvironments, and taxonomic revisions of fossil reptiles.
Labs/Teams: Principal Investigator at the Arlington Archosaur Site; collaborates with institutions like the Perot Museum. His research explores coastal swamp ecosystems and their fossil records, with a focus on understanding ancient food webs and environmental interactions.
