Elizabeth L. Wollman is a Professor at Baruch College, The City University of New York (CUNY), with a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology from the Graduate Center, CUNY. She is also a member of the doctoral faculty in Theater at the Graduate Center. Her research and teaching focus on the stage musical, commercial theater industry, canonicity, historiography, failure, sexuality and gender, and New York City's cultural history.

Her published works include the books The Theater Will Rock: A History of the Rock Musical, From Hair to Hedwig (2006), Hard Times: The Adult Musical in 1970s New York City (2012), and A Critical Companion to the American Stage Musical (2017). She co-edited The Routledge Companion to the Contemporary Musical (2020) and currently co-edits the journal Studies in Musical Theatre.
