Elizabeth Gunlogson is an Associate Professor of Music at the University of New Hampshire, teaching clarinet, music theory, and woodwind methods since her appointment. Previously, she served on the faculties of Morgan State University, Baltimore School for the Arts, and Luther College. An active performer, she collaborates with the Tallahassee Symphony, Annapolis Opera, Maryland Philharmonic, and Keith Brion's New Sousa Band, and co-founded the Northern Accord trio exploring mezzo-soprano/clarinet/piano repertoire.
Her academic credentials include a B.A. in Music Management & Merchandising from Luther College, M.M. in Music from Indiana University, and D.M. in Clarinet Performance from Florida State University. She received a Dissertation Research Grant for pedagogical studies of clarinetist Stanley Hasty.
Dr. Gunlogson specializes in clarinet pedagogy and historical performance practices, with research centered on Stanley Hasty's teaching methodologies. Her scholarly work bridges performance practice, music theory, and woodwind pedagogy, demonstrated through conference presentations at International Clarinet Association events and Eastman School of Music celebrations.
Her scientific recognition includes the Florida State University Dissertation Research Grant and leadership roles in the International Clarinet Association, where she served as judge for the International High School Clarinet Solo Competition and currently holds the New Hampshire State Chairperson position.
As an educator, she mentors students in performance technique and theoretical foundations across multiple course offerings including individual instruction, chamber ensembles, and music theory sequences. Her performance career actively informs her pedagogical approach through ongoing collaborations with professional ensembles.
