Elizabeth Dunn is a Professor in the Department of International Studies at Indiana University Bloomington. Her research investigates humanitarian crises, forced migration, and food systems within post-Soviet contexts, with fieldwork spanning Georgia, Poland, Kyrgyzstan, and Germany. She holds a Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University (1999), an M.A. from the University of Chicago (1993), and a B.A. from the University of Rochester (1991).
Dunn's work critically examines protracted displacement, the unintended consequences of humanitarian aid, and food security during conflicts. Her geographical expertise focuses on Eastern Europe and the former USSR, analyzing themes of sovereignty, violence, and survival in crisis zones. Recent publications explore the Ukraine-Russia war, distributed humanitarianism, and the political economy of borders.
