Sean Brotherton is a Professor and Chair of Anthropology at New York University, specializing in the anthropology of medicine, science, and the body. His work focuses on health, medicine, state power, and psychoanalysis, with a regional emphasis on Latin America and the Caribbean. He holds a Ph.D. from McGill University and has authored influential books such as Revolutionary Medicine: Health and the Body in Post-Soviet Cuba. His current research examines Cuba's humanitarian medical missions and their marginalization in global health discourse. Brotherton has received numerous grants and fellowships, including from the SSHRC and Wenner-Gren Foundation. His teaching and research explore the intersections of embodiment, political subjectivity, and global health equity.
