Elise Remling is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Canberra’s Centre for Environmental Governance, with expertise in climate change adaptation, sustainable development, and the intersection of human geography, political science, and development studies. She previously worked at the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) and maintains an associate role there.
Her research focuses on the sociopolitical implications of climate change, discursive power in policy-making, and institutional responses to climate-related security risks in multilateral organizations like the United Nations and European Union. Her work aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly those addressing climate action and reduced inequalities.
Recent publications include analyses of UNFCCC National Adaptation Plans, the impact of the pandemic on global sustainability forums, and EU strategies for climate-related security risks. She has received the Early Career Researcher Development Fellowship and collaborates internationally with institutions such as ANU, SIPRI, and the Norwegian University of Life Sciences.
