Professor Mark Howden is a leading academic in climate science and policy at The Australian National University (ANU), where he directs the Institute for Climate, Energy & Disaster Solutions. He holds honorary professorships at Melbourne University and serves as a Vice Chair of the IPCC, contributing to global climate assessments since 1991. His research focuses on climate adaptation, agriculture resilience, and science-policy interfaces, with over 440 publications. He co-authored the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize-winning IPCC report and advises on national and international climate strategies.
