Elise Chandon Ince is an Associate Professor and Pearce Faculty Fellow in the Department of Marketing at the Darla Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina. Her research focuses on consumer processing of marketing materials through the lens of linguistics, examining language structure, phonetics, fluency, and framing effects on cognitive judgments.
Her work has been published in Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, and Journal of Experimental Psychology: Applied. She has served on editorial review boards and organized the Numerical Markers Conference. Ince teaches undergraduate, MBA, and doctoral marketing courses, having previously taught at Virginia Tech (where she received the Excellence in Teaching Award) and the University of Florida.
Research Trends: Her recent publications analyze numerical markers, cognitive biases in forecasting, P2P payment adoption, and metacognitive effects in consumer decision-making. Key subfields include consumer disclosure, CSR campaigns, temporal expectations, and linguistic framing.
