Elidor Mëhilli is an Associate Professor of History and Public Policy at the Department of History, Hunter College, CUNY. He holds a PhD and MA from Princeton University and a BA/BS from Cornell University. His research focuses on dictatorships, Cold War dynamics, and the diplomatic/economic dimensions of authoritarian regimes. He has held fellowships at Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Zentrum für Zeithistorische Forschung (Potsdam), Birkbeck College (London), and Hoover Institution (Stanford).
His acclaimed book From Stalin to Mao: Albania and the Socialist World (2017) won three major awards and is based on archival research across eight countries. Recent work explores cinema in Eurasia, the history of archiving, and radio as an instrument of internationalism. His writings also appear in Contemporary European History, Slavic Review, and Journal of Cold War Studies.
