Malgorzata Mazurek is an Associate Professor of Polish Studies at the Harriman Institute, Columbia University, specializing in 20th-century history of Poland and East Central Europe with a focus on social sciences, international development, labor, consumption, and Polish-Jewish studies. She received her Ph.D. (2008), M.A. in Sociology (2004), and M.A. in History (2003) from Warsaw University.
Research Interests: Mazurek's work examines the intersection of socialist economies with global development, including her monograph Society in Waiting Lines (2010) on inequality under state socialism and her current project Economics of Hereness tracing Polish contributions to global developmentalism (1918-1968). Her research also encompasses Polish-Indian academic exchanges, Cold War consumption practices, and the history of social sciences.
