Eleni Hasaki is a Professor of Anthropology at the School of Anthropology and a Professor of Classics at the Department of Religious Studies and Classics, University of Arizona. She holds the SBS Deans Leadership Fellowship for Academic Affairs and Student Success. Her research focuses on ancient Greek craft communities, combining experimental archaeology, ethnoarchaeology, and social network analysis to explore economic strategies, operational knowledge, and social networks. She co-directs the Laboratory for Traditional Technology (LTT), which includes the Ceramic Artist Residency and projects like the WebAtlas of Ceramic Kilns in Ancient Greece and SNAP (Social Networks of Athenian Potters).
Education: Ph.D. from the University of Cincinnati (Fulbright Scholar) and B.A. in Greece as a first-generation student. Her work has been funded by NEH, Harvard Center for Hellenic Studies, and others. She teaches courses on Greek art, technology, and labor, and advises graduate students internationally.
Research interests include craft apprenticeship, spatial economics of workshops, and Mediterranean pottery networks. Her interdisciplinary projects span digital humanities, experimental replication, and collaborative studies. She has authored/co-edited three books and over 20 peer-reviewed articles, with ongoing partnerships in Tunisia and Greece.
