معرفی
Elena Maria Rossi is a Full Professor in Theoretical Astrophysics at Leiden Observatory, Leiden University. Her research focuses on compact objects, supermassive black holes, and stellar dynamics to trace Galactic dark matter, with strong ties to missions like LISA, Gaia, and LSST. She has held prestigious fellowships, including the Chandra Fellowship and a postdoctoral fellowship at Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
- PhD in Astrophysics, University of Cambridge (2005)
- Laurea in Physics, Universita' degli Studi di Milano (2000)
- Diploma di Maturita' linguistica, Liceo Linguistico Bianconi, Monza (1994)
Rossi’s research spans tidal disruption events, supermassive black hole formation, hypervelocity stars, and gravitational wave sources. She integrates data mining from Gaia with theoretical models to study Galactic structure and dark matter. Her work bridges traditional astrophysics and modern computational techniques, as evidenced by her development of neural networks for stellar discovery.
Her recent publications highlight collaborations with LISA, Gaia, and LSST teams, focusing on multimessenger astronomy and dark matter mapping. Students like Tommaso Marchetti, Valeriya Korol, and Clement Bonnerot have contributed to these studies, with Korol receiving a Rubicon Fellowship and Bonnerot a Marie Curie award.
Scientific Awards:
- Chandra Fellowship (University of Colorado, 2005-2008)
- Postdoctoral Fellowship (Hebrew University, 2008-2010)
She supervises PhD and Master’s students, including current advisees Tommaso Marchetti (upcoming ESO Fellow) and Stella Reino, and has mentored past students like Rubicon Fellow Valeriya Korol and Marie Curie awardee Clement Bonnerot. Her teaching includes courses on General Relativity in Astronomy.
