Isaac Shlosman is a Full Professor at the University of Kentucky's Department of Physics & Astronomy, College of Arts and Sciences, with additional affiliation at Osaka University's Theoretical Astrophysics group. Research focuses on galaxy formation and evolution, active galactic nuclei, and supermassive black hole formation. Coordinates the Galaxies: Formation, Evolution and Dynamics research group and the Active Galactic Nuclei research group.
Research interests span theoretical and computational astrophysics: galaxy formation dynamics; AGN feedback mechanisms; supermassive black hole seeding; galactic bar evolution; dark matter halo interactions; and high-redshift galaxy formation. Recent publications examine jet feedback in Seyfert galaxies, direct collapse black hole formation, galactic bar dynamics, and cosmic filament structures.
Research groups include current and former postdoctoral fellows and graduate students at University of Kentucky and globally. Teaching covers solar system astronomy, stellar structure, galaxies, advanced mechanics, and atomic physics. Maintains international collaborations with institutions including Osaka University, Heidelberg University, and IAC Tenerife.
