Elena Goloubeva is a Professor of Mathematics at Webb Institute, holding the position since 2013. She has served as Chair of the Department of Mathematics from 2007 to present. Goloubeva earned her M.S. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Moscow State University (1985) and her Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from the Acoustical Institute (1991).
- Past appointments include roles at Columbia University, St. John’s University, Hofstra University, and SUNY at Stony Brook.
- She has coordinated academic initiatives like the Webb Lecture Series and Founder’s Day.
Research Interests span interdisciplinary applications of mathematics in acoustics and medical imaging. Her work explores wave propagation in underwater acoustics and statistical analysis of medical imaging trends for pulmonary embolism diagnosis.
Publications focus on applied mathematics in clinical and physical systems, with recent contributions to acoustical physics and CT angiogram utilization patterns. Her research has been presented at over 13 invited talks.
