His academic career spans over 15 years with 61 research publications and leadership in multiple research projects.
His research focuses on cognitive neuroscience, neuropsychology, and clinical psychology with particular emphasis on infant learning, language development, and music cognition. His work explores neural mechanisms of word learning, sensory processing in preterm infants, and the impact of early interventions on developmental outcomes. His research integrates electrophysiological methods with clinical applications to understand developmental trajectories.
His recent publications (2022-2025) demonstrate strong focus on preterm infant development, language acquisition, and music cognition. The works reveal consistent interest in electrophysiological correlates of cognitive processes, with increasing attention to clinical applications and early interventions. His research bridges basic cognitive neuroscience with practical clinical implications, particularly in developmental disorders.
His scientific awards include:
- Cicero Learning Networks PhD Award (2014)
- Psychology Students' Subject Association Kompleksi ry Teacher of the Year Award (2019, 2024)
- Psychology Students' Subject Association Kompleksi ry Supervisor of the Year Award (2021, 2025)
Partanen supervises Bachelor's, Master's, and PhD theses across Psychology, Speech Therapy, and Medical programs. His research activities include active participation in the 'Early identification and intervention of weak language skills of very preterm children' project and the Cognitive Neuroscience Cluster.
