Eike Langbehn serves as Professor of Media Informatics at Hamburg University of Applied Sciences since March 2021, affiliated with the Department of Media Technology within the Faculty of Design, Media and Information. He holds dual leadership roles as Study Program Coordinator for the M.Sc. Digital Reality and Co-Director of the Research and Transfer Center Digital Reality.
His research specializes in (3D) human-computer interaction within narrative and playful media environments, particularly extended reality (XR) and games. Core expertise spans mixed reality systems, perceptual/cognitive aspects of VR locomotion, redirected walking techniques, and 3D user interface design. His work bridges academic research with industry applications through Curvature Games, a VR studio he co-founded in 2020.
Langbehn maintains active leadership in professional communities including IEEE Computer Society/VGTC, ACM (SIGCHI & SIGGRAPH), and German Informatics Society specialist groups. His conference service includes Program Chair roles for ACM VRST 2024 and GI VR/AR Workshop 2024, alongside extensive committee participation in IEEE VR, ICAT-EGVE, and ACM SUI events.

As an educator, he teaches across B.Sc. Media Systems, M.Sc. Digital Reality, and M.A. Games programs covering Mixed Reality, Game Engines, and Interactive Systems. His industry experience since 2012 spans web, mobile, and VR platforms as both programmer and game designer. The research trajectory shows strong continuity in perceptual optimization of VR experiences, evidenced by invited talks at venues including Nordic Game Conference, University of Central Florida, and Ubicomp Summer School.
