Dr. Eike Langbehn is a post-doctoral researcher at the Human-Computer Interaction group within the Department of Informatics at the University of Hamburg’s MIN Faculty (Mathematics, Informatics, and Natural Sciences). Since January 2015, he has focused on locomotion techniques for virtual reality, particularly redirected walking, spatial perception, and multi-user VR environments.
Education:
- Studied in Oldenburg and Hamburg
- PhD in Computer Science
Research interests include perceptually-inspired user interfaces for VR, exploiting perceptual limitations to enhance redirected walking in room-scale VR, and topics like multi-user VR, game design, and immersive storytelling. His work is funded by the German Research Foundation through the "Interactive Locomotion User Interfaces (iLUI)" project.
Scientific awards include multiple accolades from conferences such as nextReality.Contest, ACM SAP, Mensch und Computer, and ICAT-EGVE. He has also received grants and scholarships from DAAD and the German Research Foundation.
Teaching roles at the University of Hamburg include lectures and tutorials on interactive game development, user interface software and technology, and VR prototyping. He has served on program committees and as a reviewer for prestigious conferences and journals.
