Professor Eike Kiltz is a prominent researcher in cryptography and theoretical computer science, affiliated with Ruhr University Bochum. He holds the academic rank of Professor and was awarded the prestigious Sofja Kovalevskaja Award in 2011, enabling him to establish and lead an independent research group at his chosen institution.
His research focuses on core areas of modern cryptography, including cryptology, information security, and theoretical foundations of computing. Drawing from both mathematics and computer science, his work contributes to the development of secure systems and protocols.
The Sofja Kovalevskaja Award, funded by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research and administered by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, supports outstanding early-career researchers from abroad. With up to 1.65 million euros in funding over five years, it allows recipients to design and lead their own research teams. Eike Kiltz utilized this opportunity to return to Ruhr University Bochum after prior research stints at the University of California, San Diego, and Centrum Wiskunde & Informatica in Amsterdam.
