Edwin Schmeckpeper is a Professor at Norwich University in the David Crawford School of Engineering, where he chairs the civil and environmental engineering and construction management departments. He has led ABET accreditation for the Construction Management program and holds professional engineering licensure (P.E.).
He earned degrees from Valparaiso University and the University of New Hampshire, transitioning to academia after industry experience in engineering design and construction. Joined Norwich University in 2009 after serving at the University of Idaho.
His research spans Engineering Education (NSF-funded projects), Affordable Housing (Microhouse, ADA-accessible WheelPad), Construction Management, Structural Engineering, and Resilient Infrastructure. Current work integrates solar energy applications through consultation on the Department of Energy's Solar Roads project.
His publication portfolio demonstrates focus on sustainable housing solutions and engineering pedagogy, with recent work emphasizing societal impact through economical design approaches.
