Lisa Domenica Iulo

Lisa Domenica Iulo is a Professor of Architecture and Director of the Hamer Center for Community Design at Penn State's Stuckeman School. She is a registered architect, professional planner, and LEED-Accredited Professional with a focus on sustainable building and community-scale renewable energy implementation.

Education:

• Master of Urban Planning (environmental principles, urban design history) from City College of New York
• Bachelor of Architecture (cum laude) from New York Institute of Technology

Iulo's research emphasizes residential green building practices, affordable housing innovation, and energy efficiency. She has pioneered integrative design-build projects combining architectural aesthetics with zero-energy targets, particularly through Solar Decathlon competitions.

Her publications span sustainable construction methodologies, masonry wall performance analysis, and participatory urban design frameworks. Awards include BP Solar Performance Award, PVNews Editors’ Choice Award, and multiple recognitions for high-performance housing projects.
