Edward Truitt is a Professor of Dance at West Texas A&M University within the Sybil B. Harrington College of Fine Arts and Humanities. He joined the Department of Art, Theatre and Dance in 2003 and holds an M.A. in Dance (University of Oregon, 1996) and B.F.A. in Theatre/Dance (University of Nebraska, 1979). His teaching spans ballet, jazz, choreography, dance history, and yoga.
Professor Truitt's creative research focuses on choreography for stage, film, and television. As an internationally recognized artist, his work explores contemporary ballet, jazz dance, and somatic practices. He maintains active creative projects across Europe and Asia, with special emphasis on Russian and Greek cultural exchanges.
His notable honors include:
- Fulbright Senior Specialist
- Grand Prix Italia Awards for choreography (2005)
- Documentary feature on PBS for his Russian collaborations
He founded ERTDance and maintains memberships in international dance organizations including Conseil International de la Danse and CORPS de Ballet International.
