Dr. Eduardo Bunge serves as Professor in the Department of Psychology at Palo Alto University, where he directs the Master of Science in Psychology program and the Children and Adolescents Psychotherapy and Technology (CAPT) Research Lab. He additionally holds the position of Associate Director for the International Institute of Internet Interventions for Health at PAU.
Dr. Bunge earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Buenos Aires and completed his Ph.D. in psychology at the University of Palermo in Argentina. This foundational training in his native country informs his culturally responsive approach to digital mental health interventions.
His pioneering research integrates artificial intelligence with child and adolescent mental healthcare, specializing in multilingual (English/Spanish) chatbot development for depression, anxiety, and parenting support. As an expert in Behavioral Intervention Technologies (BITs), he investigates how mobile applications, teletherapy platforms, and AI conversational agents can ethically expand access to evidence-based care while addressing developmental considerations in youth populations. His work critically examines screen time impacts, digital intervention efficacy, and implementation barriers in diverse clinical settings.
With over 80 publications including five clinical books and 70+ peer-reviewed articles, Dr. Bunge has established himself as a thought leader in technology-mediated mental health delivery. His professional training programs through PAU's Continuing Education division translate research into practice for clinicians worldwide.
Under Dr. Bunge's direction, the CAPT Research Lab focuses on developing and validating AI-powered tools that maintain therapeutic integrity while overcoming traditional service barriers. Current initiatives prioritize crisis risk management in chatbot design, cultural adaptation of digital interventions, and teletherapy protocols specifically optimized for child-therapist interactions. The lab operates at the intersection of clinical psychology, human-computer interaction, and implementation science to advance scalable mental healthcare solutions.
