Eduard Torrents

Eduard Torrents is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Biology, University of Barcelona (UB), and leads the Bacterial Infections: Antimicrobial Therapies group at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC). His research focuses on developing novel antimicrobial therapies targeting multidrug-resistant bacteria and biofilms, with a particular emphasis on understanding bacterial pathogenesis and host-pathogen interactions. He received the prestigious ICREA Academia distinction in 2025, which supports his research to enhance its international impact.

His work combines molecular biology, microbiology, and bioengineering approaches, exploring topics such as ribonucleotide reductase regulation, bacterial coinfections, and nanomedicine-based solutions for persistent infections.
