Dr. Edouard Coupet II is an Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine and Core Faculty in the Program for Addiction Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. Board-certified in both Emergency Medicine and Addiction Medicine, he focuses on expanding addiction treatment access through emergency department (ED) interventions and addressing health disparities. His research addresses substance use among assault-injured populations and opioid use disorder treatment equity, supported by National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA) and Emergency Medicine Foundation (EMF) grants. He has co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed articles in journals like JAMA Network Open and Annals of Emergency Medicine, emphasizing implementation science, racial bias in diagnosis, and ED-based buprenorphine administration. Dr. Coupet completed his MD at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, residency at Jacobi/Montefiore, and a T32 fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania. He is a NIDA K12 DAHRS Scholar and has led multisite trials on ED-initiated buprenorphine. His work highlights trauma-informed care, health equity, and translational research bridging policy and clinical practice.
