Edith Aguirre is a Senior Research Officer at the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER), University of Essex. Her work focuses on infrastructure and research projects related to pregnancy and early childhood within the Understanding Society initiative. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of York, a Master’s in Economics from CIDE (Mexico), and a Bachelor’s in Economics from UANL (Mexico).

Her research interests span Applied Econometrics, Health Economics, Household Economics, and Labor Economics. She has held roles in the Mexican government (Tax Administration Service, Ministry of Economy, Presidency of the Republic) and the private sector (Citigroup). She also served as a Postdoctoral Research Associate on an ESRC-funded project on NHS networks and collaborated as an international consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank.
Her recent work emphasizes child development, mental health, and the socioeconomic impacts of domestic violence. She has contributed to Understanding Society’s innovation panels and health biomarker studies, highlighting interdisciplinary approaches to social science research.
