Dr. Mónica L. Caudillo is an Associate Professor in the Sociology Department at the University of Maryland, College Park. She holds a PhD and MA in Sociology from New York University, and a Licenciatura in Political Science and International Relations from Centro de Investigación y Docencia Económicas (CIDE). Her research specializes in family demography, reproductive health, and maternal/infant health, with geographic focus on the United States and Mexico.
Her research examines demographic and health consequences of social disruptions, including:
- Opioid epidemic impacts on fertility/family structures in the US
- Community violence effects on reproductive health in Mexico
- COVID-19 consequences for maternal/infant health
