Prof. Dr. Eberhard Schwark served as a Full Professor and Chair of Civil Law, German and European Commercial and Economic Law at Humboldt University of Berlin until his retirement on October 1, 2004. He also headed the Institute for Banking and Capital Markets Law. Previously, he held professorships at Ruhr University Bochum (1981–1993) and the University of Heidelberg (1980–1981).
Education: Studied epistemology, information theory, mathematical logic, law, and economics at the University of Bonn, Free University of Berlin, and University of Freiburg. Received his doctorate (1969) and habilitation (1978) from the University of Bonn under Helmut Ridder and Peter Raisch, respectively.
