Francis Breedon is a Professor of Economics and Finance at Queen Mary University of London's School of Economics and Finance. He holds a BSc (Econ) from Queen Mary (1984) and an MPhil in Economics from the University of Cambridge (1985). His research focuses on bond markets, foreign exchange markets, macroeconomic policy, and financial market microstructure. He has extensive industry experience as Global Head of Currency Research at Lehman Brothers (1997–2000) and as a consultant to hedge funds, investment banks, central banks, and ministries of finance.

Research Interests: His work examines bond and FX market dynamics, including microstructure, liquidity, and policy implications. Recent studies analyze capital controls, algorithmic trading, and the impact of quantitative easing. He also explores fiscal policy in small economies and sovereign wealth fund strategies.

Grants & Advising: Advised the Norwegian Ministry of Finance on sovereign wealth fund allocation, the Central Bank of Iceland on exchange rate policy, and the UK government on FX reserves management. Supervised PhD student Valerio Della Corte.
Labs/Teams: Active in interdisciplinary research collaborations with central banks and financial institutions, including the Bank of England and the BIS.
