EROL KAYMAK

Prof. Erol Kaymak is a Professor in the Department of Political Science and International Relations at Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU). He holds a PhD from Texas Tech University and has extensive experience in advising over 30 PhD and master's theses, focusing on topics such as the Cyprus conflict, European Union policy, geopolitical strategies, and peace processes.

His research interests include conflict resolution, EU external policies, identity politics, public opinion dynamics in peace processes, and the role of hydrocarbons in regional negotiations. He has published widely on Cyprus-related issues, including post-referendum analysis, EU discourses among Turkish Cypriot political actors, and geopolitical strategies of regional powers.

Key areas of supervision include the impact of external actors in civil wars (e.g., Yemen), the political economy of terrorism (e.g., Boko Haram), and the implementation of international agreements such as the Iran nuclear deal. His work often bridges academic analysis with policy implications, particularly regarding Cyprus's unresolved status and European integration challenges.
