Dr. E.L. (Bert) Kramer is a Lecturer at the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Groningen, and serves as Head of Climate Research at Ortec Finance. His dual role involves leading research teams to develop methodologies for analyzing climate change impacts on economies, financial markets, and institutional investments. He advises global investors on aligning portfolios with the Paris Agreement and has expertise in Asset-Liability Management (ALM) for insurance entities and property investors.
Educated at the University of Groningen, he holds a Master’s in Econometrics and a PhD in Business, both cum laude. Previously, he held an Assistant Professorship at Tilburg University and lectured at the Amsterdam School of Real Estate. His research focuses on quantifying climate risks, sustainability metrics, and regulatory frameworks for financial resilience.
Notable projects include collaborations with the Dutch Pensions and Insurance Supervisory Authority and the Government Buildings Agency. His work has been recognized through international awards for scientific papers. He actively engages in public commentary on climate-related financial risks, such as addressing wildfire impacts on global insurance sectors.
