E. Jamie Trammell serves as Associate Professor in the Environmental Science, Policy, and Sustainability Program at Southern Oregon University (SOU), where he teaches Environmental Data Analysis, GIS, Remote Sensing, and Conservation courses. His research integrates socioeconomic and biophysical drivers to model landscape change and future scenarios for terrestrial and aquatic systems across diverse global environments.
Dr. Trammell's educational background includes:
- PhD in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation Biology, University of Nevada, Reno (2011)
- MS in Geography, University of Nevada, Reno (2004)
- BA in Biology and Environmental Studies, Western State College (2003)
As a landscape ecologist, Trammell specializes in translating climate, social, economic and ecological data into geospatial frameworks for landscape-level analyses. His fieldwork spans American southwest deserts, Australian rivers, Alaskan/Canadian boreal regions, and agricultural landscapes in Idaho and Oregon. He emphasizes synthesizing complex land/seascapes to visualize and communicate socio-ecological dynamics, particularly focusing on how alternative futures emerge from integrated driver systems.
His publication record (2011-2021) demonstrates consistent focus on socio-ecological modeling, climate impacts, and geospatial applications. Key themes include salmon conservation scenarios in Alaska, transdisciplinary landscape change assessments, and bridging research-practice gaps in western U.S. public land management. His work frequently employs community engagement to co-produce landscape trajectories within Food-Energy-Water systems frameworks.
