Dr. Dyann Ross is a Senior Lecturer in Social Work at the University of the Sunshine Coast (Australia), with 45+ years of academic and professional practice spanning social work education, research, and community activism. She holds a PhD from Edith Cowan University (ECU), a Master of Social Welfare Administration from the University of Queensland (UQld), and undergraduate degrees in Social Work and Arts from the University of Tasmania (UTas).
Her research focuses on social and ecological justice, love ethic frameworks, and transformative leadership. Key areas include corporate social responsibility, mental health systems reform, and eco-activism. Dr. Ross has published extensively, including a prize-winning dictionary on corporate social responsibility and works on love-based ethics in social work practice. She has led over A$700,000 in research grants addressing community development, mental health service priorities, and multispecies ethics.
Award highlights include the RUSA Book Award (2016), USC's Blended Learning Award (2015), and recognition for her role in resolving mining-industry/community conflicts in Yarloop. She serves on editorial boards for Australian Social Work and the Indo-Pacific Journal of Phenomenology, and advocates for nonviolent strategies to address environmental injustice and systemic oppression.
