Dwaine Carver is an Associate Professor and Associate Chair of Architecture at the University of Idaho's College of Art and Architecture. He holds Fine Arts and Architecture degrees from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and Harvard University. His work bridges architecture, public art, and urban planning, emphasizing collaborative, site-sensitive design.
Notable projects include the Arts Master Plan for Boise Public Works, the Cottonwoods public sculpture at Boise City Hall Plaza, and the Avery Hotel & Brasserie. His designs have been featured in Architectural Record, Sunset, and Sun Valley Art, and he is the co-author of Daylight Design in the Pacific Northwest (University of Washington Press).
Carver has received over a dozen awards, including the 2022 Paul G. Windley Faculty Excellence Award and the 2016 Boise City Hall Plaza Sculpture Commission. His academic contributions include guest critic roles at RISD, Harvard’s GSD, and the University of Pennsylvania.
He currently teaches in the Architecture Program’s graduate studios and focuses on integrating art, environment, and community in design processes.
