Dwain Fehon, PsyD, is a Professor of Psychiatry at Yale School of Medicine and Chief Psychologist at Yale New Haven Hospital. He directs the Behavioral Medicine Service, providing integrated psychological care for chronically ill patients across multiple departments including the Yale Cancer Center, Spine Center, and Transplantation Center. His clinical focus includes palliative care, coping mechanisms, and resilience in patients with serious illnesses. Dr. Fehon completed his PsyD at the University of Hartford and postdoctoral training at Yale.
His research explores psychological comorbidities in medically ill populations, including demoralization in cancer patients and stress management for liver transplant candidates. He has led studies on interventions like the Liver SMART program and co-investigated text-messaging interventions for alcohol relapse prevention. Dr. Fehon has been recognized with awards such as the Excellence in Behavioral Medicine Training Program Award and multiple Distinguished Faculty Supervisor Awards.
Dr. Fehon oversees Yale’s predoctoral psychology training program and serves in leadership roles for professional organizations like the Council of Clinical Health Psychology Training Programs.
