Duncan Ayscough

Duncan Ayscough serves as a Senior Lecturer at Cardiff School of Art & Design, Cardiff Metropolitan University, where he also completed his Master's Programme in Ceramics. His academic career is complemented by active studio practice from his home studio in Llandaff, Cardiff.

His research interests focus on ceramics as a medium for conceptual expression, exploring how ceramic vessels can simultaneously embody tradition and innovation. Ayscough views his work as 'containers of distilled thoughts, moments arrested in time expressing the narratives of their own making,' creating objects that are 'simultaneously familiar and mysterious, strong, yet fragile, passive and dynamic.'

His artistic output includes collaborative exhibitions such as 'In Practice' (2025), where he participated alongside numerous artists from the ceramics field.
