Dr. Douglas Rosene is a Professor in the Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology at Boston University School of Medicine. He serves as co-director of the Laboratory of Cognitive Neurobiology with Dr. Mark Moss and teaches multiple neuroscience courses including Principles of Neuroscience 1 and seminars on the Neurobiology of Learning and Memory. His research focuses on the temporal lobe limbic system, cognitive aging, and recovery from cortical injury in primate models.

Dr. Rosene’s research examines neurobiological mechanisms of cognitive decline in aging and post-stroke recovery. His work includes NIH-funded studies on myelin plasticity, neuroinflammation, and diffusion MRI validation. Recent studies explore MSC-derived extracellular vesicles for neural repair, caloric restriction effects on brain aging, and connectome imaging techniques.
His recent publications analyze cortical injury recovery mechanisms, aging-related white matter changes, and neuroimaging innovations across 2023-2025. Key themes involve extracellular vesicle therapy, astrocyte dysfunction, and myelin integrity assessment.
